The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Monday that about 41 percent, or 2,888 of the 6,929 aspiring accountants, have passed the 2009 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination.
Leading the successful examinees with 91.71 percent each were Romelyn Manset Carpio of the De La Salle University (DLSU) in Lipa City, and Ivan Rhett Villacampa Macabeo from the Bicol University (BU) in Legazpi City.
Following with 91.57 percent each were Laila Topacio Amon and Reginald Lajara Laco, from DLSU franchises in DasmariƱas, Cavite province and Lipa City, respectively. Also ranking second was Ariel Cangrehilla Nacion from the Mindanao State University (MSU) in General Santos City.
Happy with the results, Amon told GMANews.TV that she is “overwhelmed." She also said that “it took the right combination of hard work, patience, and of course, faith in the Lord."
“Being one of the topnotchers was something I never expected," Amon said.
Third-placers who received 91.29 percent each were Belvin Lopez Armenion from the University of Cebu, Joseph Albert Josol Bulao from the Ateneo de Davao University, and Ma. Theresa Solano Pamintuan from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.
Jamie Ann Datol from the University of the East in Caloocan City and Francis Angel Lim Reyes from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) received 91 percent each and are both in fourth place.
Receiving 90.80 percent each were Ryan Dulamal Nandwani from the University of Saint La Salle and Reyland Jethro Torres from the Notre Dame of Marbel University, both of whom are in fifth place.
In sixth place with 90.71 percent each were Hexilon Salenga Manabat of Holy Angel University (HAU) and Kevin Bacungan Manansala from the MSU in Marawi.
Kaiser Yohann Ballecer from BU-Legazpi received a percentage of 90.57, as well as Cris Leo Molina Villanueva from UST. Both are in seventh place.
Three successful examinees from UST shared the eighth rank, with Miken Fortunato Padilla, Alissa Star Reyes and Gibson Tengco Tan all receiving 90.43 percent.
Ninth placers Jerlynne Castillo Dela Cruz from UST, Maricor Patricio Fernandez from the University of San Carlos and Ronalyn Castro Laxamana from HAU all garnered 90.29 percent.
Completing the list would be Roel Samson Boiser from the Baliuag University and Paul Robert Vera Morata from Ateneo de Naga, both receiving 90.14 percent.
The top performing school with 100 and more examinees was UST with 273 passers out of 311 hopefuls. UP Diliman had 64 examinees pass out of the 66 who took the exam, topping the 51-99 examinees category.
The school with most passers at the 26-50 examinees category was Ateneo de Zamboanga with 29 successful exam-takers out of the 31 who took the test.
DLSU in DasmariƱas had the most passers at the 10-25 examinees category, with 13 out of the 15 examinees successful passing the test.
The results were released a day after the exams were given by the Board of Accountancy, chaired by Eugene T. Mateo.
This year’s oath-taking ceremony will be held on November 18 at 1 p.m. at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.
