–- The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that it will be on heightened alert as the observance of All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day takes place next week.
PNP Chief Director General Jesus Verzosa said there will be a nationwide heightened alert to guarantee peace and order during the weekend, The Philippine Star reported.
“In Metro Manila, police districts were instructed to provide security in land transportation terminals,” the PNP said in a statement on Philstar.com.
“The Maritime Group and Aviation Security Group, on the other hand, were tasked to implement special security measures in seaports and airports, respectively,” the statement added.
The PNP, meantime, warned the public against criminals who could strike at crowded places and vital installations, according to radio dzMM.
Public assistance centers will also be put up to cater to those who will travel during the long weekend.
Malacañang declared November 1 (All Saints’ Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day) as special non-working holidays.
The PNP also advised the public not to bring the following to the cemetery: illegal weapons, alcoholic beverages, videoke machines and gambling materials.
