-- Filipino bantamweight contender Michael Domingo may take the place of fallen fighter Z Gorres in challenging Mexican champion Fernando Montiel for the World Boxing Organization 118-pound title.

ALA Promotions chief Michael Aldeguer told PhilBoxing.com that Domingo has signed up with Sampson Lewkowicz who will help the Filipino arrange a match up with Montiel on the Pinoy Power III card.

The fight card is scheduled on February 13 next year.

“My father (ALA Gym owner Antonio Aldeguer) and I had no reservation whatsoever in signing up Michael Domingo with Sampson Lewkowicz because he is one person who makes things happen,” said the younger Aldeguer.

Domingo (39-14-2 17KOs) has already racked 8 consecutive wins since the 2007 Philippines vs Mexico World Cup.

Gorres had been originally slated to fight Montiel (39-2-2 29 KOs) in a rematch but had to retire from boxing after sustaining a severe head injury in his last fight against Luis Melendez of Colombia.

Gorres is currently recovering at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
