-- Barangay Ginebra’s Cyrus Baguio said he hopes to continue making great contributions to his squad after being named KFC/Accel-PBA Press Corps' Player of the Week for the period of Nov. 2 to 8.
“Tina-try ko lang talaga 'yung best ko para makuha ko sistema ni coach. At least nakakapag-adjust na ako kahit papano kasi nahirapan din talaga ako nu'ng una,” he admitted in a PBA.ph report.
“At the same time, gusto ko ring ipakita na team player ako,” he noted.
In the Kings’ twin victories over Barako Bull and Rain or Shine, Baguio averaged 19.5 points, 3 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1 block.
Baguio clearly stepped up when his teammates Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand were sidelined by injuries. Eric Menk, meantime, is not yet in top form after suffering a fractured toe.
“It took some time, pero now nakapag-adjust na siya,” stated Ginebra coach Jong Uichico.
“It's a very good sign dahil naka-regain na siya ng confidence and I hope nakahanap na siya ng niche sa team,” he added.
Ginebra is now back in second place with 4-1.
Baguio’s performance last week gave him the edge over San Miguel Beer’s Arwind Santos and Alaska’s Willie Miller for the Player of the Week citation, the PBA website revealed.
