-- Filipino-American Brandon Vera believes he will have to bring out his very best when he battles Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) legend Randy "The Natural" Couture inside the Octagon on November 14.

“People always wanted to know what Brandon Vera's at his full potential would look like,” Vera said in a UFC promotional video. “I tell you, me fighting Randy Couture, he's gonna bring out every ounce of everything I got.”

Vera will be facing Couture for the main event of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 105 at the Manchester Arena in England.

The 32-year-old Fil-Am said he’s pretty excited to fight the man whom he considered the reason he started out fighting.

“I want him to know that he's the reason why I'm here, he's the reason why I started, and he's the reason why I'm moving forward so hard,” said Vera, who has so far collected 11 wins in 14 professional MMA fights.

He also thinks even his psyche in training is affected by the prospect of facing the MMA legend that he is motivated to push his body to the limit while working out.

“Usually, my coaches are saying 'Oh, you got one more round.' My body's like, 'No, we can do three more. Let's get three more before we go home and call it a day,'” said Vera.

“This is somewhere where I haven't been before in my training camp. It's cool, I'm excited about it, I don’t know why it's happening but I'm just riding with it,” he added.

The 46-year-old Couture is a three-time former heavyweight champion and two-time light-heavyweight champion of the UFC. He is one of only two UFC fighters to have held a championship title in two different divisions.

Couture has already fought professionally 26 times against some of the best MMA fighters. He has compiled 16 wins and has developed the reputation of being an ageless warrior.

Notwithstanding Couture’s stature in the MMA scene, Vera said he is prepared to stand toe-to-toe against his idol.

“Randy couture is one of my idols... I've looked up to that man since when he had to fight three times just for a $10,000 check… But you know how the old saying goes: 'to be the man, you gotta beat the man',” said Vera.
