-- Some of the notable players who failed to secure automatic spots in the second World Ten Ball Championship will have a chance to get a berth in the “Big Dance" when the qualifying round begins Thursday at the Star Center in Quezon City.

The WTBC main tournament is scheduled from Nov. 25 to 30 at the World Trade Center.

Included in the 128 cast are more than 100 foreign participants from Japan (20), Indonesia (14), China (11), Chinese-Taipei (8), Brunei (7), France (3) and Great Britain (2).

Another 27 entrants are Filipinos, including Ramil Gallego, Antonio Lining, Roberto Gomez and Mario Tolentino.

Gomez finished runner-up to Daryl Peach of Great Britain in the 2007 World Pool Championship at the Araneta Coliseum.

The foreign participants will be led by Chang Pei-Wei of Chinese-Taipei, Rudy Susanto of Indonesia, Kenji Taguchi and Tomoo Takano of Japan and Ernesto Dominguez of Mexico.

The tournament will be played over five days (Nov. 19 to 23). Two qualifiers will be played and completed daily with the winner of each awarded a spot in the WTBC main draw.

This year’s WTBC offers a total prize fund of $262,000 and attracted players from more than 40 countries.
