-- Guest player Rachel Ann Daquis fired 16 hits and four blocks as she powered Far Eastern University to third place in the Shakey's V-League Season 6 second conference via a 25-20, 10-25, 25-11, 21-25, 15-10 win over San Sebastian College Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan City.

It was FEU'S best finish since joining the league’s inaugural tournament in 2004 and placing fourth the previous conference.

Shaira Gonzales and Cherry May Vivas contributed 17 and 15 points apiece as the Lady Tamaraws of coach Nestor Pamilar completed a sweep their best-of-three series for third place.

"Second time naming pumasok sa semis. At least from fourth place, nag-third place kami ngayon," said Pamilar.

Despite feeling sorry for their dismal performance in the quarterfinals where they posted only one win in five games, Pamilar said that he was still satisfied with his Lady Tams’ achievement.

"Sabi ko nga sa kanila, ang ganda ng placing namin after ng eliminations, kung nagpursige lamang sana sila sa quarterfinals, siguro naranasan nilang lumaban sa finals," related Pamilar.

"At least, kahit kulang kami, napatunayan ng mga bata na kaya nilang manalo," he added referring to a missing link in former open spiker Mikaela Irish Morada who quit the team for personal reasons.

Alumna Jinny Mondejar paced the Lady Stags’ losing cause with 17 points while Analyn Joy Benito added 15 and rookie Dafna Robinos chipped in 12 markers.

Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas skipper Aiza Maizo was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Conference.

Maizo, who hails from Iloilo, became the second player from the EspaƱa-based squad to win the most prestigious individual award after Mary Jean Balse, who copped the award twice, during the first conference of 2004 and the previous conference.

Other individual awardees were Angela Benting of Adamson (Best Scorer); Giza Yumang of College of St. Benilde (Best Attacker); Paulina Soriano of Adamson (Best Blocker); Cherry Vivas of FEU (Best Server); Stephanie Gabriel of Ateneo (Best Digger); April Jose of FEU (Best Setter); and Lizlee Ann Gata of Adamson (Best Receiver).
