-- Z “The Dream” Gorres has finally reunited with his wife Duchess more than three weeks after suffering a severe head injury in a boxing match in Las Vegas.

Immediately after arriving in Las Vegas, Duchess went straight to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada where Gorres is confined.

She said she had to control her emotions upon seeing Gorres’ condition.

“Pinigilan ko po yung nararamdaman ko para makita ni Z kung gaano ako kalakas para ganun din gawin niya,” she said.

“It was so emotional,” said Gorres’ handler Michael Aldeguer of the ALA Boxing Promotions. “We waited for this time, I never saw Z reacted that way… When he saw Duchess, he was trying to speak but he couldn’t. It was really an emotional moment for both of them.”

Gorres was hospitalized after winning a unanimous decision over Columbian Luis Melendez at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Resort and Casino last month. He suffered a subdural hematoma (blood clot in the brain) after being knocked down in Round 10.

Doctors have already removed the respirator connected to Gorres as the boxer can now breathe on his own.

They are, however, still observing an infection in his throat.

Dr. Michael Casey is confident that Gorres will steadily improve because of his healthy lifestyle as a boxer.

“He may have some memory loss, he may have some speech delay and all of that can be re-trained, could be brought out but I expect him to come back to being functional,” said Casey.
