-- Lenny de Jesus, Joshua Clottey’s new trainer, claims he didn’t need to watch Manny Pacquiao’s fight tapes in designing their strategy versus the Filipino champion.
De Jesus said in a report by FightHype.com he has already seen everything Pacquiao is capable of doing.
“I already have Manny in my mind, how he fights,” he said in a quote taken from HBO’s documentary Road to Dallas: Pacquiao vs Clottey.
De Jesus, a Puerto Rican who has worked as Pacquiao’s cutman for 6 fights, claims the 7-division champion has been using the same ring tactics in the past 5 years.
“Freddie Roach, maybe, put a little knowledge and stuff like that, a little techniques, but he's the same guy that I saw 5 years ago,” said De Jesus.
Because of this, he said, Team Clottey already has a fight strategy allegedly tailored to defeat the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champ.
“I got the key to beating Manny Pacquiao, I don't need to watch any tapes,” he told FightHype.com.
Pacquiao and Clottey will collide inside the ring on March 13 (March 14 in Manila) at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
