-- Despite the negative pronouncements of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. on pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino boxing superstar said he is still willing to face the undefeated American fighter.

Hayaan na natin siya,” Pacquiao said in an interview with GMA News on “Unang Hirit.” “Hindi ko naman sinabing lamang na lamang ako, puwede pang lumaban diyan. ‘Di naman tayo natatakot eh.”

Mayweather, who beat Shane Mosley via unanimous decision on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), said he will face Pacquiao only if the Filipino agrees to the Olympic-style drug testing procedure.

The 7-division world champion, for his part, clarified his stance on the Olympic-style drug demand of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for their supposed super fight.

Para sa akin, hindi naman ako umaayaw doon. Basta huwag lang sa araw ng laban kasi pangit naman na araw ng laban. Tutal may medical naman kami right after the fight,” he explained.

Pacquiao then explained that undergoing a blood test on the day of his fight would be unfavorable to him.

Kasi disadvantage sa akin ‘yun kasi mas malaki siya sa akin, maliit ako, kung hindi ako maka-recover,” he stated.

Mayweather, however, also said that he does not need to fight Pacquiao just to earn $20 million to $30 million because he can do that with other opponents.

Need for speed

Pacquiao also revealed that he was able to watch the Mayweather-Mosley bout, but not all of it.

He even commented on the speed of Mayweather, a former pound-for-pound king.

If we fight, I'll need more speed because Mayweather is fast,” Pacquiao said in an Associated Press (AP) report by Tim Dahlberg.

Mayweather, on the other hand, even questioned the Filipino’s “Fighter of the Decade” citation from the Boxing Writers Association of America.

He told The Grand Rapids Press: “They say Pooch-e-yow got Fighter of the Decade, right? Well, how did Pooch-e-yow get Fighter of the Decade when he got outboxed by Erik Morales and had a knockdown, drag-out with Marquez?

He went on, “I just don’t understand this. And all these fighters have been cakewalks for me. They’ve all been cakewalks for me. I just don’t understand this. Do you?

Mayweather and some of his team members earlier alleged that Pacquiao was taking performance-enhancing drugs.

Pacquiao just brushed aside Mayweather’s comments: “Gumagawa talaga siya ng dahilan.

As for Pacquiao, who is running for a congressional seat in the May 10 polls, he said he has not yet talked to his mother about his career plan. Dionisia Pacquiao said she does not want her son to return to the ring anymore.
