-- Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto assured that they will be at their best state come fight night as they aim to make the catch weight of 145 lbs.

“This is the best condition I have ever been. 100% I will be ready for this fight as I have been for all my fights. I feel stronger and faster at this weight,” Pacquiao told David Tyler of DoghouseBoxing.com.

Pacquiao, who is aiming to win his seventh world title on November 14 in Las Vegas, said he is uncertain of his current weight. “Maybe 145 lbs.,” he guessed.

Asked how much he will weigh on fight night, he stated: “Not much more than I do now, maybe 148 lbs. or less.”

Puerto Rico’s Cotto, on the other hand, told the same website that he will make the weight.

“When we took this fight, we decided that we were fine with 145. We knew we could do it and we knew we would be at our best the next night,” he told DoghouseBoxing.com.

“We would not have taken this fight if we didn’t think I was going to be at my best the next night after the weigh-in,” he continued.

According to the fight contract, the Puerto Rican will be fined $1 million for every pound in excess of 145 lbs., The Philippine Star reported. Moreover, if Cotto goes a fraction beyond 147 lbs., Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, reportedly said he would call off the bout.

Toughest foe

Pacquiao has always refused to predict the outcome of his “Firepower” fight against Cotto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

He always says only God knows what will happen. But he indicated in his “Kumbinasyon” column that Team Pacquiao thinks he has a great chance of getting past Cotto.

His assistant trainer, Buboy Fernandez, declared that Pacquiao is “110% in condition” for his upcoming fight.

“We have been preparing like for the previous fights but we have some special training areas for Manny to take advantage of Cotto’s weak spots. Manny knows that Cotto will be his toughest opponent he has ever faced,” he shared.

“Team Pacquiao knows that the Cotto fight will be tougher than the previous fights because Cotto is the champion and will not be willing to give up that title. Manny must be at his very best condition to beat Cotto and I believe he is in that kind of condition,” he stated.

Pacquiao, for his part, noted that he is “feeling very good” after his training camps in Baguio City, Philippines and Los Angeles, California.

Cotto, meanwhile, shared what he could do in the ring on November 14.

“I try to put myself in the best condition I can and I will try to capitalize on any kind of mistake my opponent will make. If Manny makes any kind of mistake I am going to capitalize on that,” he said.

Cotto went on, “I never come in to knock any guy out. I just try to do my work in the ring. If I hit the guy with a good punch or a combination, I will go for it. Or if I can get a decision. I go to do my work and if I hit him with a good punch, I am going for it.”
