-- Michael “The Count” Bisping wants to return to the Octagon and go back to his old aggressive ways in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 105 co-feature fight against Denis Kang.

“My best performances in the past have been when I’ve come out and been the aggressor. So I’ve got to go back to that and back to my old self, if you will,” Bisping told Thomas Gerbasi of UFC.com.

“So that’s what I’ve got to go back to – I’ve got to find that fire inside me and just get that ruthless killer instinct back,” he added.

Bisping will take on Kang on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the M.E.N. Arena in his hometown of Manchester, England.

It has been almost four months since Bisping fought in the Octagon. He was stunned by Dan Henderson via a second round knockout in UFC 100 in July.

“I wanted to fight ASAP, so it feels like it’s been forever, a very long time since I fought Dan Henderson,” added Bisping. “I’ve been itching to get back in there and get back to my winning ways.”

The British MMA fighter added that his loss to Henderson made him want to revert to being the aggressor again.

Advantage

Bisping disclosed that there were initial talks pitting him against Wanderlei Silva. However, the match-up did not push through and the Briton landed on a scheduled clash against Kang.

Bisping said this suits him well.

“I don’t want to go back down to fighting guys who are on their way up; I want to fight guys who are at the top of their game, and Denis Kang is one of those fighters. He’s been around for a long time, he’s very experienced, and he’s fought some great guys,” he stated.

Bisping has 18 wins and 2 losses while Kang has a 32-11-1 record.

The Briton also said that fighting in his hometown will definitely boost his confidence on fight night.

“Wherever I fight, I ultimately get in there and fight by myself, but being in Manchester and having the crowd behind me is going to be beneficial,” he noted.

“In the past when I fought in England, the crowd really does get behind me and I feel it’s always had a positive impact. It’s gonna spur me on,” he continued.

Couture vs Vera

The Bisping-Kang match supports the UFC 105 headliner featuring UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture and Filipino-American Brandon “The Truth” Vera.

Other UFC 105 matches include Mike “Quick” Swick vs Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, James “Lightning” Wilks vs Matt “The Immortal” Brown, Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson vs Aaron Riley, and Paul “Relentless” Taylor vs John “The Hitman” Hathaway.

Terry Etim, meantime, will go against Shannon Gugerty as Nick “Slick” Osipczak will fight Matthew Riddle.

Paul “Tellys” Kelly will take on Dennis Siver, Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson will face Jared Hamman, and Andre Winner will seek to triumph over Rolando “The Crazy Cuban” Delgado.
