-- Mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Randy “The Natural” Couture said that in order to overcome Filipino-American Brandon “The Truth” Vera, he will have to force “The Truth” to adjust into his fighting style.

“Wrestling is still the basis of my fighting style,” said the 46-year-old Couture in a UFC promotional video. “Definitely this camp with Brandon, I need Brandon to wrestle me.”

The Couture-Vera match up is the main event of UFC 105 which will take place at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England on November 14.

Couture is well aware of Vera’s ability to strike from a distance, stressing his need to “close the gap” with the younger fighter.

“I'll use the striking I've learned to figure out how to protect myself, close the distance and get my hands on him and make him wrestle me for the whole fight,” said The Natural.

Couture is known for his wrestling skills, having been a three-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division-I All-American and a two-time NCAA Division-I runner-up while he was at Oklahoma State University.

He added that he would have to be extra sharp against the 32-year-old Vera.

“I'd use a little intensity that I need to hunt somebody down and be sharp as I'd have to be. Because I'm having fun [in my past fights] and I enjoy what I do… there's something about that mindset that kind I need tweaking up a little bit,” the MMA legend said.

Vera, meanwhile, said he hopes to outpace the more experienced Couture.

Not only he will have to test himself against the ageless Couture, Vera said that he will have to find out how long The Natural would last against him.

“Will Randy's age come into factor? It hasn't in his last fights, Randy's so mentally tough. But the question I'm hoping to find the answer out myself is how much punishment can his body take before his body starts to break down,” said the Fil-Am.
