-- San Sebastian College derailed Far Eastern University’s aim to secure the second semifinals berth after beating the Lady Tams, 25-23, 14-25, 26-24, 25-21, in the quarterfinal round of the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 second conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

It was the Lady Stags’ second win in the quarterfinals for a 7-4 win-loss card overall, placing them into a tie for second spot with their victims.

With the defeat, FEU now needs to win against league-leader UST in their last quarterfinals outing Tuesday.

San Sebastian also needs to beat College of St. Benilde in their encounter and hope that fourth-running Adamson drops its last two games to avoid a playoff for the last semifinals berth.

The Lady Stags at least have a slight advantage in their race for the No. 2 slot since they will be facing an already-eliminated team in the CSB the Lady Blazers. The Lady Tams, for their part, have to deal with the Tigresses, who despite securing the top seeding entering the Final Four, still want to sweep their remaining games.

“We want to win as much as we can to boost the morale of the players going into the semifinal round," said UST mentor Cesael delos Santos.

Adamson, meanwhile, eyes revenge against Ateneo, which previously snapped the Lady Falcons’ two-year mastery over the Lady Eagles (counting eight meetings since Game 2 of the 2007 second conference finals).
